The moral of the story: Dont' fuck with the girl with the dragon tattoo.
An immensely entertaining Swedish mystery/thriller. Saw it at Talk Cinema where I learned the film is based on the first book of a trilogy by Swedish author Stieg Larsson. The whole thing is a pop culture phenomenon in Sweden and Europe I guess, plus, a good percentage of the Talk Cinema audience had heard of/read the books. The author recently dropped dead at the age of 48, he was a leftist who left his estate to some communist group and now that he's rich that's in dispute by relatives..... Anyway, it's a complex tale of intrigue involving a wealthy old man who's head of an international conglomerate and is looking for his presumed murdered niece. He hires a disgraced, headed for prison leftist journalist who ends up hooking up with a computer savvy tattooed girl with her own issues. Enthralling, violent, sexy.....see it.

I have read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire. The 3rd book will be released in the USA in May 2010. The books were just ok and I like the genre. I think there may have been something lost in the translation from Swedish. Lisbeth is a cool character, though. I can see how she would be a good one in a movie.
